Okay all you coffee nuts (you know who you are 😉 !), guess what Vega just came out with? That’s right, Performance Protein Mocha – aka you can have your “coffee” in the mornings and have it benefit your workout.
Researchers found that consuming protein, especially branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) after a workout helps your body to rebuild muscle, and reduces recovery time. According to PubMed, “data show that BCAA supplementation before and after exercise has beneficial effects for decreasing exercise-induced muscle damage and promoting muscle-protein synthesis.” With a reduced recovery time by avoiding DOMS, you’ll be able to push harder and train more often, naturally building strength.
So when should you take it?
Vega recommends that you take it within 45 minutes post-workout for the best effects.
How do you take it?
You can take it straight with water or do what I usually do: bake/cook with it. Protein pancakes, protein cookies, protein brownies… the possibilities are limitless.
