Swung by Running Free today and picked up my new pair of Asics Gel Nimbus 15!
It was my first time at their retail location as I usually purchase through their website and oh my goodness, I was like a kid in a candy store. They have so many pairs of just socks! I had the urge to touch everything then combed through their sale section and picked up a top and a hat too but what I’m really excited about are my new shoes.
I had picked up a pair Asics Gel Cumulus 14 a couple months ago (the silver and blue pair in the photo) and I really couldn’t like them. I tried, I really did and in the end, I decided that another pair was in order. The service in the store was amazing. Me being clueless as usual wandered in with both my runners in a bag, explaining how I was in love with my pink pair and this new one just wasn’t up to par. Turns out, it was the cushioning as the Gel Nimbus had was better cushioning than the other pair and I was definitely taking a step back quality wise when I bought the silver pair. So the lovely employee took out the newest pair of the Gel Nimbus and had me try them on and oh my goodness it was like putting my foot on a cloud!

and let me just say, cushioning. cushioning. cushioning. I’m sorry but my feet are spoiled and the cushioning was the selling point for me. They unfortunately didn’t have a size 7 but trying on the size 7.5, their fitting guy gave it the a-okay as it was actually an amazing fit for me. My toes had enough space for when my feet swells and it was wide enough that my little pinky toes weren’t squished in. The heel fit snugly without slipping like the Gel Cumulus pair which was what drove me crazy. And the color, even though I gravitate towards pink-er/purple-y colours, wasn’t too bad. I am extremely happy right now about my purchase and the experience I had in store. And even though my BF left without buying anything and was only really looking at the clearance section of the shoes (which there was a lot of), the sales guy was really helpful with him and didn’t discriminate over the amount that he would have spent compared to someone who wasn’t shopping their clearance section which we really appreciated.
Overall, I had an amazing experience with Running Free online and now in-store too. I will definitely be coming back for my next pair of running shoes (and other running goodies – they have a huge selection of gels&etc) and I would definitely recommend you checking out their website or the store if there’s one near you.
*I am no way sponsored with Running Free. Everything was bought with my own money 🙂
