Inside My Mind

You have the same amount of hours in a day as Beyonce

So the other day when I all I ate was G.H. Cretors popcorn and almonds all day, this Beyonce related picture popped up on my Facebook newsfeed,

why yes, Beyonce and I both share the same 24 hour time frame but after sending all day stressing out about my exam and essays and eating nothing but junk all that, this really rubbed me the wrong way.  I am personally not a fan of this motivational mantra.   That if we really worked hard enough, we can be just like Beyonce because hey, if she can do it, then so can I right?! RIGHT?! WE CAN ALL BE LIKE BEYONCE! (Can you tell I may have been sleep deprived and was on the brink of madness?)

Beyonce is paid to shoot her music videos, I am not paid to study (I’M PAYING THE SCHOOL).

I wonder who does the chores at Beyonce’s place?

Hey if Beyonce’s hungry, I wonder what her personal chef cooks for her?

Huh, I’m out of household items … guess I need to take some time out of my day to go get those.  Wonder if I’m bump into Beyonce at Costco buying toilet paper then waiting in a long line.

Sigh it’d be nice to have a personal stylist to take care of that aspect of my life…

If Beyonce needs to “fit in” a run, does she have to wake up at 4:30 am?!

Don’t get me wrong – I’m not bashing Beyonce, I’m just using her as an example.  Her and countless other celebrities are always idolized and used to compare ourselves to.  I’m just saying, we are not on the same playing field. Not even close.  So why is she used as the bench mark for us ladies?

Okay, now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I feel a lot better 🙂

Hope you guys had a better week than I’ve had! LOL

  1. OMG yes! I saw this floating around a little while back and thought the exact same thing. Yes, everyone logically has 24 hrs to use however they want each day. That doesn’t mean we have the ability or tools to use those hours in the same way. It’s so silly. The only thing we should compare ourselves to is our past self (IMHO) 🙂

    • exactly! it should be like “did you do more than you did yesterday?” or something. THEN I’d feel guilty about doing less than I did yesterday haha

  2. I totally know what you mean! Everyone has different responsibilities and therefore a different amount of things they need to get done in a day. The average person can’t be compared to a celebrity who has people to do lots of stuff for them!

  3. This is definitely one I hate as well – sure it is true on some level, but even from her earliest days she was getting pushed into competitions and other things with her parents managing her career and her father managing Destiny’s Child … chances are she wasn’t scooping the cat box like my kids have to do.

So if you have 25% of your life that is dedicated to things like washing dishes, food prep, clean-up and so on … you do NOT have the same amount of hours. I had to change my own baby’s diapers – every time, not just when I felt like it. I didn’t have a ‘staff’ on hand.

She is a talented singer and performer, and more adept even as a business person, but she is a very singular ‘event’ like Taylor Swift. There are a few people throughout history that make that type of money and have that sort of fame … and they are really no longer living the same types of lives as us … and it is not productive to compare.

    • haha for some reason I didn’t see you as a cat person! I would have thought dog 🙂 but yes, imagine being able to have a staff! I would be so happy to never have to vacuum again!

      • Actually we have both 🙂 We have a very old cat with cancer who should have died ages ago but somehow just keeps going, a younger cat we ‘rescued’ from my wife’s sister, and our two Norfolk Terriers … we are definitely pet friendly in spite of my wife and younger son having very bad allergies.

    • Costco lines terrify me LOL and waiting ALWAYS makes me notice new things that I HAVE to have! haha. having someone do that for me would be amazing 😉
