As someone who’s got a PhD in the art of lazy (I’d nap all day if I was given the chance!), I have some quick and easy tips to get your workout on!
Make exercise part of your social life
If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? There’s a good chance that my answer would be yes! Making working out into a social outing (especially one with food afterwards) makes it a lot easier to get up and get active.
Make a regular appointment with the gym or group fitness class
Signing up for group fitness classes are an great way to get into the groove of working out. Schedule it into your planner and commit to blocking off that chunk of time to head to class. Worried about not knowing what you like? Places such as GoodLife Fitness have drop in classes such as yoga, hot yoga, spin sessions, zumba, and more that you can go to as part of your monthly membership. If you don’t like a class, no biggie! Off to your next one!
Workout at lunch time
Seriously – it’s the quickest way to get it over with. GoodLife Fitness has a 30 minutes Body Shred class, a quick romp around the track for 20-30 minutes, even going for a brisk walk during your lunch break helps! I tend to spend 15 minutes easting and then the first of my lunch break playing on my phone, now, I spend that time making working out a priority and it’s over and done with during work hours!
Pack your bag the night before
I’m 99.9% more likely to go workout if I already have my clothes packed in my bag. I’m also more likely to go participate in a last minute sweat session if I have my gym clothes with me.
Have a reward system
One interesting thing I saw on Instagram is the money jar. What it is is that every mile or km you do, you put $0.50 or $1.00 into the jar. Usually there’s a goal involved, i.e. saving for a big race expo, a new work out outfit, etc. What better way to reward yourself than through your own hard work?
