There are days where you are well rested but before you even start a run, you already feel tired. It all seems to be mentally because there really is no reason to be tired. When this happens, here’s what I do to get over it.
1. Pick A Cute Outfit
Usually when I can’t drag myself out for a run, I pick a cute outfit. I find that if I’m feeling cute and good, then I’m more likely to go on my run because let’s face it, it’s hard to find a cute outfit sometimes so when you do, you gotta show it off!
2. Do a Tiny Bit First
I usually try to run for at least 10 minutes as after 10 minutes, my mindset is leaning towards “I might as well finish my run, I’m already finished 10 minutes” compared to “I’m tired, I don’t wanna run.”
3. Keep Your Mind Busy
When I’m mentally tired, my train of thought is usually along the lines of “oh my god, I’m so tired” “I don’t feel like running” or “I should just turn back.” In order to keep my mind off that, I try to keep busy by listening to a pod cast or focus my mind on lyrics (rap works best for me since it’s such a challenge to hear the lyrics by ear and memorize it!)
4. Get Lost
Not really get yourself lost but try to go on a new path. Usually when I take a different turn than I usually go I get “lost” and I end up focusing on my new environment and forget all about how “tired” I am. Time and distance passes by a lot faster and my run ends up being more enjoyable than it started!
I hope these tips help! Do you have any tips when it comes to a mentally tough workout/run?
