4 weeks to my half marathon and well… I’m making progress! Training is starting to ramp up but I seriously need more time!
Tuesday I totalllly slept in and because I had class and work – I had to squeeze in both my run and crosstraining in between at the gym. It was my first treadmill run in…over a year and it was definitely different. I keep having to remind myself that it is not a race with the people around me since we’re all going at different paces. But something about having someone beside me seriously throws me off my focus!
Wednesday I managed to wake up before class to get my run in. I was quite scared looking at my workout for the day and I honestly thought I couldn’t do it. I was assigned 3x2K at my half marathon “race pace” and was literally going “WTH WTH WTH CAN I DO THIS” in my head the entire warm up. I ended up just reminding myself that for the first 3x2K that I ran 5:36 for 2k in my training 5k race so if I could do it a few weeks ago, I could do it today. I ended up surprising myself by doing the intervals at 5:30, 5:30 and 5:39, all faster than expected. I survived, went to school, then went right back to the GoodLife and biked 26 miles. It was my first double digit run since June and my first 20+ mile bike ride and it felt amazing!
My first double digit run since June/post injury! I was assigned 10k with 3x2k at race pace and holy did I think my coach was craycray because I was seriously doubting if I could do it. My legs were still a little heavy from yesterday and calves a wee bit tight but I somehow managed to do it! ?? (Looking back at my feed, I wear pink/black a lot….) Thursday was supposed to be a rest or crosstraining day. At first I was thinking of just resting because of the hard workout the day before but then I saw the TV schedule for the Food Network and decided to go bike. LOL! I literally decide on my work out on what’s on the Food Network as I want to have something interesting to watch while I bike.
Friday was a doozy. I saw “12×200” and was like NOPE. 12?! My last track workout didn’t go as expected so I was a little hesitant to face it again. I ended up doing it off a track to ease my anxiety of failing again like last week and whatdoyouknow, I managed all 12! Pacing had never been my strong suit so only being +/- 1 second for almost all 12×200, I was pretty happy! I did a total of 8K and then went back to the gym and biked for 12.5 miles. I wanted to go for longer BUT the Food Network was playing a show I had no interest in so I cut it short (LOL – I have a problem…).
Sunday my second 10k of the week since June! The weather is no longer blistering hot so it really helped as I stayed in bed til 2 to run. I had decided that marathoning through How To Get Away With Murder on Netflix was more important! Haha
So how was your week? Anyone race or volunteer? Any good news to share?
