It’s Monday and I have bad news… I broke my 4 day ice cream streak on Sunday as it was raining then snowing so the sidewalks were frozen over and I couldn’t go out and buy a cone ):
Monday – REST
Tuesday – Easy 3.4K
Wednesday – Cross trained
Thursday – 4K with intervals
Friday – Cross trained
Saturday – REST
Sunday – 5.25K
I don’t have much to report about my training last week. I ran okay. It was fine. There was some pain here and there especially on my Thursday run but I spent most of the week rolling my legs out.
I’ve been having trouble getting back into the swing of things – especially my intervals. It was my second set of intervals of the training cycle and I was supposed to do 8 x 30 seconds at 5:05. Instead my splits were 4:55, 5:40, 5:23, 5:30, 4:45, 5:00, 4:40, 5:00. Not exactly on the money…
On Wednesday I got to see a new physiotherapist. I had been getting cancelled weekly for around 4-5 weeks and turns out my original physio had torn his shoulder or something along those lines which is very unfortunate. I was upset with the cancelling but hearing how it had gotten injured (instead of “he won’t be in this week”) put things in perspective for me. Physios are not invincible.
Anyways, I got some new rehab workouts as the new physio pointed out how my left foot was turned in (my previous physio said my right foot was. So apparently both my feet are!) and the inside of my calf was extremely tight so I have to work on rolling some more and strengthening the outer part of my calf.
I think it might just be easier if I got a fresh set of legs ya know? I’ve been getting better but there’s just so much I need to do to maintain it. Leg work, glute work, core work, activating tiny parts here and there, rolling, stretching, etc etc! Sometimes I get concerned that I won’t be able to maintain all of this once I graduate and have to work a “real job.” I totally miss being 16 and just running painlessly!
