Monday on the Run #42

I’m not ready for this week to start! The weekend was seriously too short.


Monday – REST
Tuesday – 5K
Wednesday – Intervals
Thursday – REST
Friday – Intervals
Saturday – 5K
Sunday – 13K

Last week was a solid week for me. I had a bunch of solid runs and my intervals were pretty great! Recently I haven’t kept track of my interval paces. I usually go a few seconds under the assigned pace and after texting my coach, I tend to forget about what I’ve done!

Wednesday intervals were interrupted but I managed a 2K warm up, and then 4 x 1k  @ 5:45ish with my last K at 4:57! I haven’t really done anything sub 5 minute yet as I’ve been slowly tipping my toes back into interval training.

Friday intervals were 3K warm up, 5 x 2 mins at around 5:20 pace, give or take, and 3K cool down.

And Sunday, oh Sunday! My 13k run was the longest run I’ve done since October! I’m quite happy with where I am right now. A few months ago, I wasn’t even running and was assigned to cross training!

I’ve been taking a really lack approaching to training recently. I’ve been taking it one day at a time and have been trying to avoid thinking about it. In the years before, I would be counting down the days to my upcoming races but this time around, I barely even realized when my races were. I was a little shocked to realize that I have a 5K coming up this Sunday!

I personally really like this one day/one step at a time approach as you really can’t cram your running. Doing too much too soon to try and be “ready” for a race seems counterproductive as it increases the chances of injury.

  1. Looks like a good and consistent week of training!! I am being cautious about starting to run again. Still just easy cycling. Sometimes it is fun to have a more laid back training cycle! Hope your week is going well.
