The last few months, I’ve been hitting the gym a lot. I did a majority of my spring half marathon training on a treadmill at GoodLife Fitness and since then, I’ve been going in to focus on strengthening between training cycles.
So needless to say, I pretty much lived out of my gym bag for a while. Where I went, my gym bag went with me since you never know when there’s a moment to pop into the gym! Luckily, I have the Om the Day gym bag from Lululemon which can hold up to 50lbs so I’m sure half my strength comes from lifting it.
1. Back Up Clothes
I always keep an extra outfit in my gym bag since you never know when you’re going to work out. If you know me, you know that there are days I have gym clothes in my Kate Spade purse instead of regular purse things. Gotta be prepared! Pictured here is my Nike sports bra, Lululemon Swifty SS and Tracker III, Feetures Socks, and Adidas Energy Boost. Would you judge me if I say I usually pack my Adidas for the gym because they’re just too pretty to use outdoors? Just look at how pretty the shoes are! 😀 They’re super flexible and lightweight so I love packing them for cross training.
2. Polar V800
To be fair, my Polar V800 is always on my wrist to the point where I now have a watch tan line but if for some reason I’m not wearing it, it’ll be on the charger or my gym bag (in addition to my heart rate monitor that’s not pictured). These are key to my gym workouts – trust me when I say that I a mini meltdown when I had washed my heart rate monitor strap and forgot to put it back in my bag! The heart rate monitor helps me know if I’m overexerting myself when I’m supposed to be doing my “easy” work outs so I am recovered enough to do my hard workouts the next day.
3. My lock
Honestly, the gyms I go to, there are people who don’t even lock up their stuff. There’s a sense of comradery at every gym I’ve been at. However, I find it a pain in my butt to open a locker to put my stuff in only to see that it was already taken. The lock is more for letting people know that the locker is taken.
4. Dryer sheets
So the brightness of the photo after I’ve edited it kind of washed out my dryer sheets beside my hair ties! But I try to keep dryer sheets in my bag to keep the stink levels low.
5. Hair ties
I usually have a hair tie on my wrist but I always have a pack of hair ties in my bag for emergencies. Either I’ll forget mine or a gym buddy might so I’m always prepared with extra!
I try to keep a granola bar or two in my gym bag at all times because I get really emotional when I’m hungry.
For the days where I’m having lady pains or a headache, I always have a bottle of Aleve in my bag. It also means if my coworkers come to me first if they have a headache haha. Always prepared! (Not pictured is my Benadryl that I keep on me too because I’m apparently allergic to the world so it’s always nice to have some on me just in case)
8. Skin Glide
A product from the Body Glide line, it keeps chafing at bay.
9. Simple Micellar Make-Up Remover Wipes
The Micellar Wipes from Simple are packed with the purest possible skin-loving ingredients and multi-vitamins and will gently cleanse the skin. I keep wipes on me for when I’m heading to the gym session directly after work and I haven’t packed my shower stuff. I find that my skin breaks out more if I don’t wash my face immediately after my workout and before it and sometimes I’m in a rush to leave so it’s great as an on-the-go solution.
10. Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair
In addition to the lotion, I also have the mini tub of the Vaseline petroleum jelly that’s not pictured. If I’m lifting, I find that my hands get dry quick so this helps with making sure my skin stays moisturized afterwards and avoid cracking.
11. Degree Active Shield Dry Spray Antiperspirant
If you’ve seen my vlog, you’d know how easy it is for me to be swayed by advertisements. When I say the Degree Dry Spray ad where they blast a canon of stuff onto a lady and a guy’s armpit and none of the confetti stuck, I wanted to try the dry spray! I don’t like feeling sticky after applying deodorant mainly because I’m worried about residue onto my gym clothes. And let me just say that yes, the dry spray is dry! No sticky residue for this gal.
