Ingredients

Teriyaki Sauce

  • ¼ cups tamari sauce or soy sauce
  • 7 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 4 tbsp orange juice
  • 4 garlic cloves minced or crushed
  • 5-6 tablespoons water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder added after the cornstarch/after the pork has been cooked in the IP

Pork Tenderloin

  • olive oil
  • 0.5 kg pork tenderloin

Instructions

Instant Pot Instructions

  • Start off by making your teriyaki sauce by whisking together tamari or soy sauce, orange juice, orange zest, crushed garlic, and honey. Then set it aside for later.
  • Press the sauté button on your Instant Pot and drizzle some olive oil or oil of your choice in and brown pork tenderloin on both side.
  • Add in the teriyaki sauce and 4-5 tbsp of water or chicken stock. Then put the Instant Pot lid on, turn the valve to sealing, and set it on manual to 7 minutes.
  • When your Instant Pot beeps, do a quick release (be careful) before opening the lid and then remove your pork tenderloin. Let it rest on a plate while covered with an aluminum foil.
  • Add 1 tbsp of cornstarch to a side bowl with 1 tbsp of water to make a slurry before turning your Instant Pot on to sauté and whisk in the slurry. This will thicken your sauce.
  • Taste your sauce at this point and see if you want to add anything like additional honey or garlic powder (I added 1 tbsp of garlic powder). Let it simmer until it’s thicken.
  • Optional: Slice your pork tenderloin and add it back into the Instant Pot to coat it or leave it uncoated and just leave the sauce on the side to dip!

Stovetop and Oven Instructions

  • Heat your oven up to 400F
  • In a cast iron skillet, let it heat up on medium heat until it is hot and add olive oil or your oil of your choice and brown your pork tenderloin on both sides. PLEASE remember your oven mitts for this.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven and roast the tenderloin for 10 to 12 minutes, until an instant-read thermometer stuck in the thickest part of the pork tenderloin reads 145°F. Remove it from the oven, let it rest for 10 minutes under a foil.
  • While the pork tenderloin is resting, in a small sauce pan bring to a boil the tamari sauce, honey, orange zest, orange juice, garlic, water, and cornstarch (to thicken the sauce).
  • Serve the sauce on the side or after slicing the pork tenderloin, coat it with the sauce.

Notes

optional: if you have rice vinegar and/or mirin, add a splash of it to your sauce!
