Butter Garlic Miso Noodles with Mushrooms
Savoury, creamy, and easy to make, you’re going to want to try these miso noodles. Whenever I’m cooking from my pantry and have no idea what I want for dinner, I’ll make buttered noodles. Buttered noodles are a childhood staple that’s pretty much butter sauce with spaghetti – it only takes a couple of ingredients and is hard to dislike!
Today I’m sharing with you a play on my lazy buttered pasta. These noodles are coated with miso and tossed with mushrooms, with have a strong umami flavour and doesn’t take any more effort to put together. This recipe can also be easily doubled.
What You’ll Need To Make These Creamy Noodles
- butter: I use unsalted
- mushroom: quartered cermini
- garlic
- pasta noodles: I use fettuccini
- miso paste: I use white miso paste
- pasta water
- parmesan cheese
How To Make Butter Garlic Miso Pasta Noodles with Mushrooms
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and add in your pasta when ready. Cooking until al dente (see your pasta container for instructions).
- While the water is boiling, in a medium sized pan, melt your butter and sauté the mushrooms.
- After 2 minutes, add in the minced garlic and sauté.
- Add in the pasta noodles. Pour in the reserved miso paste, pasta water, and parmesan. Stir to combine and to coat the pasta with the sauce.
Recipe Variations
- swap white miso for red miso
- additional veggies like spinach can be stirred in
- swap minced garlic for garlic paste
- brown the butter first for a deeper overall flavour
Tips and Notes
- this recipe can be easily doubled
- I prefer using fettuccine for this recipe but you can use whatever noodles you have
- if you have green onions, it goes well with this mushroom pasta

- 2-3 tbsp butter, unsalted
- 227 grams mushroom, quartered cermini
- 8-10 cloves garlic, minced
- 225 grams pasta noodles, I use fettuccini
- 2 tbsp white miso paste
- 1/4 cup pasta water
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and add in your pasta when ready. Cooking until al dente (see your pasta container for instructions).
