This delicious and refreshing Homemade Strawberry Basil Soda is so easy to make and only require a few simple ingredients. Make this DIY flavoured sparkling water at home today!

A glass of homemade strawberry basil soda.

I love my SodaStream and making my own flavoured syrup is a fun little activity I like to do every so often, especially if it’s not a flavour that is sold in stores. Light and sweet, this strawberry basil combo is one of my favourites. This homemade SodaStream flavour is refreshing, flavourful, and simple. If you don’t have a SodaStream, simply use store-bought fizzy water.

What You’ll Need for this DIY Flavoured Sparkling Water

    • strawberries — washed and tops removed
    • sugar
    • basil
    • fizzy water — courtesy of a SodaStream

How to Make Strawberry Basil Soda

    • Strawberries in the blender.
    • A pot with strawberry puree with sugar and basil in the pot.
    • Add in the strawberries and a cup of water to the blender and blend until the strawberries is pureed and combined with the water.
    • In a pot, add in the strawberry mix, sugar, and basil. Bring it up to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes.
    • Once done, strain the liquid into a container and let it cool to room temperature and chill in an airtight container before using.
A jar of strawberry basil syrup.
    • In a cup, add in the strawberry basil syrup, ice, and cold fizzy water. Add in some sliced strawberries if you wish.
    • A glass with homemade syrup.
    • A glass with syrup and ice.
    • A glass with soda water added to a glass of strawberry basil syrup.

    Recipe Variation

    • Freeze some lemon juice in an ice tray and add it to your homemade strawberry soda to add a bit of tartness to it.
    • Swap the fresh strawberries for frozen.
    • Add in some mint instead of basil for a minty flavour.
    • Add some booze to this to make it into a fruity cocktail.
    • Want it sweeter? Add in extra sugar.

    Tips and Notes

    • I like to make this syrup 1 to 2 days ahead of time if I plan on making a large batch for a gathering.
    • This SS model is the closest to the one I have.
    • You can definitely make this with different berries.
