This easy cottage cheese parfait is the perfect sweet treat to start your day with or as a dessert! With layers of sweetened whipped cottage cheese, granola, and berries, this high protein parfait comes together so quickly and easily.

You only need a handful of ingredients to make this high protein cottage cheese parfait recipe. It’s been my newest obsession and my new favorite way to eat cottage cheese!

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • This recipe is so easy to customize! Making whipped cottage cheese takes next to no time, and you can flavor it however you’d like and change the toppings to whatever you have on hand.
    • It’s an easy way to add extra protein to your day! I love adding cottage cheese to my meals, and you use a cup of cottage cheese per serving with this recipe!
    • I love how quick it is to make these parfaits. It only takes me a few minutes for the cottage cheese to be whipped together in a food processor and another couple of minutes to layer all the fun add-ins!

    Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients needed to make a cottage cheese parfait.

cottage cheese — cottage cheese is a low-calorie cheese with a mild flavor, so it doesn’t add any strong flavor. It’s why we have to add the honey and vanilla extract! It’s soft, white, and creamy, and when blended, it turns into a smooth, creamy texture. Cottage cheese is a wonderful source of protein, so it’ll leave you feeling satiated. You can use whichever percentage of milk fat you have on hand from 1% to 4%.

honey — I use honey as a sweetener, but you can also use maple syrup. I recommend adding a splash at first and then adding more after blending and tasting it, as the sweetness can easily overpower the cottage cheese.

vanilla extract — just a dash of vanilla extract to add flavor to the cottage cheese. You can also use vanilla bean paste!

granola — you can use homemade granola (check out my homemade vanilla almond granola recipe and homemade applesauce granola recipe) or use store-bought granola.

berries — I like to use a mix of berries in my parfait. I like to chop up some strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Make sure you wash them well and dry them beforehand. Check out my DIY homemade fruit wash to help make your berries last longer.

jam — jam is optional as it adds additional sweetness to your parfait. You can skip it if you’re not a fan of jam, but I find that it’s a fun way to add some different flavors to your parfait, as you can find an assortment of jam flavors compared to the seasonality of fresh berries. I usually use strawberries, as it’s what I have on hand, but I love fun flavors like blackcurrant jam and peach jam!

How to Make Cottage Cheese Parfaits at Home

Set of two photos showing cottage cheese, honey, and vanilla extract added to a food processor.
    • Add cottage cheese, honey, and vanilla extract to a food processor. Blend for 1 to 2 minutes or until smooth and creamy.

    • Layer the parfait however you’d prefer! I tend to layer mine in the order of granola, whipped cottage cheese, jam, berries, garnola, whipped cottage cheese, and then more granola and berries on top. If it’s not for immediate consumption, I add the granola before serving and just leave some room in the jar for it.

    Recipe Tips and Notes

    • Add less honey and vanilla extract to start if it’s your first time making this parfait recipe. My husband found the amount I added to the cottage cheese to be sweeter than I found it. So it’s really up to how sweet you’d prefer your parfait. You can also add half the honey to the cottage cheese and just drizzle some on top before serving.
    • I’m using two glasses that have a 14 oz (414 mL) capacity.
    • Adding a bit of citrus, like lemon or lime zest, to the food processor with the cottage cheese adds a bright, tangy flavor.
    • For an even more filling breakfast, you can add some nut butter to the parfaits! I have a recipe for homemade peanut butter and homemade cashew butter if you don’t have any in your pantry.

    Make Ahead Tips

    • Meal prep: if you want to meal prep this recipe, I recommend adding the granola right before serving, as it will get soggy. You can also make the whipped cottage cheese ahead of time and assemble the parfait before serving!
    • Freezer: allow the air fryer meatballs to cool before transferring them into an airtight container before storing them in the freezer. Store for up to 3 months.
