Made with cucumbers, red onions, fresh dill, and feta tossed in a tangy dressing, this cucumber feta salad is so refreshing and delicious! The perfect side dish to any meal, this salad tastes even better the next day!
There’s nothing better than a bright, crunchy, and refreshing salad. I love making this cucumber feta salad when it’s hot out or if I’m looking for something light and tangy to pair with a heavier main. It’s the perfect salad for a potluck too, as it travels well!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It’s very easy to throw together! Chop up the vegetables and toss it in the dressing. Easy peasy!
- It’s made with simple ingredients! You don’t need a ton of ingredients and the dressing for the cucumber feta salad is pretty much made with pantry staples. You can also very easily customize this recipe with what you have on hand.
- It’s full of flavor! I love the salty and creamy crumbly feta paired with the crisp cucumber and red onions tossed in the tangy dressing.
Ingredients You’ll Need

cucumbers — I personally always use seedless cucumbers, also known as English cucumbers. I like their thin skins and not having to scoop out any seeds.
onion — I like the mild flavors, bright color, and crispy texture of red onions! I love red onions, so I don’t mind adding half a cup of red onion, but if you prefer to not have much of the peppery bite, use a quarter cup of red onion.
fresh dill — the fresh, citrus-like taste of fresh dill pairs wonderfully with the tangy flavors of this salad.
feta — buy blocks of feta in brine as they are more fresh than pre-crumbled feta.
salad dressing — for the homemade salad dressing, you’ll need olive oil, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
How to Make Cucumber Feta Salad

- Prepare your ingredients by slicing your cucumbers and red onions, chopping the dill, and crumbling the feta.
- Add the dressing ingredients to a small bowl and whisk to combine.
- Add the cucumbers, red onions, fresh dill, and feta cheese to a large bowl.
- Pour the dressing over the salad ingredients and gently toss until everything is combined and coated with the dressing. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container until ready to serve.

Recipe Tips and Notes
- Bring your lemon to room temperature and roll it under your palm on the counter to loosen up the juices of your lemon. This will help you get more juice out of your lemon. I highly recommend using fresh lemon juice as some bottled juices have a bitter aftertaste.
- If you have the time, allow the salad to chill in the fridge to give all the flavors time to meld together.
- If you want the crunch of onions but want the flavor to be milder, you can switch it for shallots or dice the red onions into smaller pieces.
- If you want a super creamy component, you can add some diced or sliced avocado to the salad. Cherry or grape tomatoes are a nice juicy addition, too.

Make Ahead Tips
- Meal prep: store the salad in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge.
- Make ahead: you can chop the cucumbers and onions ahead of time and store them in airtight containers. You can also make the salad dressing ahead of time and store it in an airtight jar in the fridge.
