Stay hydrated with this homemade Gatorade drink! Made with a handful of simple ingredients, this homemade lemon lime electrolyte drink recipe is quick, easy, and so refreshing! Packed with tangy citrus flavor from lemon, lime, and orange juices, plus coconut water for electrolytes, this will be your favorite way to stay hydrated.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It’s a delicious way to stay hydrated! While postpartum, I was constantly thirsty, and this was one of my favorite ways to hydrate. I love the tangy, zesty flavor.
- It is very easy to make. I stock up on giant containers of coconut water from Costco, and I can whip this (and other variations) up very quickly whenever I need a refill.
- You can easily adjust the ingredients to suit your tastes! I’m a huge fan of the tart flavors of lemon, so sometimes I’ll go in heavy with the lemon juice.
Ingredients You’ll Need

coconut water — coconut water contains natural electrolytes like potassium, sodium, and magnesium, so it makes for a great base for this homemade Gatorade drink. It’s also relatively low in calories and sugar compared to premade drinks.
lemon juice, lime juice, orange juice — this combination of citrus just hits the spot for me. If you want to use just one or two, go for it. You can juice these yourself or buy bottled juice to make things easier.
honey or maple syrup — for some added sweetness, you can add some honey or maple syrup to the DIY Gatorade. If you don’t want to add extra sugar, you can skip it, but I personally enjoy the added bit of sweetness.
salt — sodium from salt helps your body absorb and retain fluids (source), so I add just a pinch.
How to Make Homemade Lemon Lime Electrolyte Drink

Making this homemade electrolyte drink is so easy. Simply add everything into a pitcher or glass, stir until well combined, and serve chilled or over ice!
Recipe Tips and Notes
- I highly recommend serving this chilled for the best flavor. You can also have all your ingredients starting from the fridge, if you don’t have time to chill the drink.
- If you have aloe vera juice on hand, it makes for a great addition! I don’t always have it in my fridge, so I didn’t want to add it as a required ingredient to the recipe.
