Tangy and delicious, this Lemon Poppy Seed Dressing is so easy to make with 7 simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen! This lemon vinaigrette comes together so quickly and can be used in more than just salads!

Poppy seed dressing is one of my go-to dressings that I used to buy a lot. However, I hated how we would never really finish a whole bottle unless we had guests over. Because we love variety, we always had half-used bottles taking up precious fridge space. Tired of the waste, I now make homemade dressings in small batches with everyday ingredients so I always have fresh dressing on hand!

The tangy fresh flavour of this poppy seed dressing just reminds me of happy sunshine. It really brightens up any meal and I hope you love it as much as I do!

    Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients needed to make lemon poppy seed dressing.
    • olive oil — or a netural oil of your choice such an avocado oil. I prefer extra virgin olive oil though.
    • Dijon mustard — Dijon mustard work as an emulsifier in the dressing.
    • poppy seeds — the more the merrier!
    • maple syrup or honey — you can use either to sweeten this dressing. Stick with maple syrup if you’d like to serve this up for anyone who’s vegeterian/vegan.
    • onion powder — this gives the dressing a nice savoury flavour
    • lemon — I recommend using fresh lemon juice and not bottled lemon juice since it tastes brighter. Got extra lemon? Try my Lemon Basil Quinoa, Creamy Lemon Dressing, Lemon Honey Basil Chicken, or this Creamy Lemon Chive Dressing from Diabetic Foodie!
    • salt — just a pinch!
