    Firecracker Baked Chicken Thighs

Are you looking for a spicy af chicken recipe? My partner loves spicy foods so this recipe was right up his alley! Just a heads up, this recipe is actually pretty spicy in my option – I does use 1/2 cup of sriracha sauce! If you want to decrease the spice, I’d recommend adding less sriracha, a little more brown sugar, and soy sauce.

What You’ll Need To Make This Firecracker Chicken

    • Firecracker sauce (duh!)
      • sriracha
      • brown sugar
      • soy sauce
      • garlic
      • red pepper flakes
      • salt
    • chicken thighs

What You'll Need To Make Firecracker Sauce at Home

How To Make Firecracker Chicken Thighs at Home

    • Combine the firecracker sauce ingredients and marinade your chicken thighs in the sauce for 20-30 minutes.
    • Heat your oven up to 375F.
    • When ready, add the chicken thighs to a greased baking dish and bake the chicken for 35-40 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to make sure the internal temperature to 165F/75C to check if the thighs are cooked through.
    • For extra crispy skin, set the chicken under the broiler and broil for 3 minutes, keeping an eye on it as the skin can burn easily due to the sauce.

Tips and Notes on Making This Baked Firecracker Chicken Thighs

    • Chicken thighs are cooked once they reach 165F/73C. I used this meat thermometer to check the temperature of my chicken
    • Ideas on what to serve with firecracker chicken: roasted broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, rice noodles, rice, quinoa, chow mein.
    • To meal prep this recipe, I packed the firecracker chicken with roasted broccoli and rice.
    • To make this a freezer recipe, you can freeze the chicken after adding the marinade. Thaw overnight in the fridge before baking.
    • I used these airtight containers to store my chicken and I used these silicone bags to marinade my chicken in.

    Can I Substitute…

    • Chicken breasts or drumsticks for the chicken thighs? Yes
    • A different hot sauce? Maybe – I find that sriracha tastes different than regular hot sauce so it might change the overall flavour of this firecracker chicken.
