Sweet and savoury, this healthy Shrimp Stir Fry with Noodles comes together with simple everyday ingredients in a flash! Perfect for a busy weeknight, this stir fry noodle recipe is loaded with veggies and is super versatile.
I love stir fried noodles as they’re so quick and easy to make. Similar to my homemade chow mein, this shrimp and noodles stir fry recipe only requires some pantry and kitchen staples and you’ll have dinner ready in no time.

Why You’ll Love This Shrimp and Noodle Stir Fry
- It’s a fast recipe that you can throw together on a busy weeknight. Thanks to the shrimp being a quick-cooking protein, this recipe doesn’t require a ton of time in the pan!
- This shrimp noodle stir fry is packed with veggies! There’s broccoli, red bell peppers, and carrots. Feel free to add more of each vegetable or swap it out for a different veggie of your choice.
- I prefer this homemade version of shrimp stir fry with noodles to take-out as I’m able to customize the flavours. Sometimes when I’m feeling for something more savoury, I’ll add more sesame oil. If I’m craving more vegetables, I’ll double the veggies! Make this stir fry your own!
Ingredients You’ll Need

For the Sauce
- soy sauce — use low sodium soy sauce.
- honey — feel free to adjust the amount of honey if you prefer a less sweet recipe.
- orange juice — or pineapple juice if you have it.
- mirin: mirin is a Japanese sweet rice wine, if you are unable to find it, you can try rice vinegar with extra honey
- sesame oil — I use pure sesame oil to add a nice nutty flavour to the sauce.
- cornstarch — you’ll need some cornstarch to thicken the sauce.
For the Shrimp Stir Fry
- oil — use olive oil or vegetable oil.
- shrimp — I use jumbo shrimps that have their shells and vein removed to save time from doing it myself.
- vegetables — broccoli florets, carrot, and red bell peppers.
- garlic — I highly recommend mincing your own garlic instead of buying preminced garlic. I usually minced a whole bunch at once and freeze the garlic to save time.
- salt and pepper
- noodles — use whatever noodles you like! I used chow mein noodles but you can use lo mein noodles, ramen noodles, or even spaghetti noodles.
How to Make Shrimp Stir Fry with Noodles
- Combine the sauce ingredients and set it aside.
- In a large non-stick skillet or wok, heat up the oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add in shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1 to 2 minutes on each side, or just until firm and pink. Set aside on a clean plate.
- Add the rest of the oil to the pan and once hot, add the vegetables and garlic and stir fry for 2 to 3 minutes. Meanwhile, cook your noodles according to the package (mine only requires one minute to cook in boiling water).
- Add the cooked noodles to the pan and continue to stir fry to combine, for another minute. Then add the sauce and stir fry for another minute.
- Add the cooked shrimp back to the pan and toss to combine.
- Serve as is or garnish with some green onions and sesame seeds.

Recipe Tips and Notes
- Always pat dry shrimp before adding it to the pan. If there’s moisture on the shrimp, they may end up steaming instead of searing.
- Feel free to use fresh or frozen shrimp. To quick thaw frozen shrimp, place the bag of frozen shrimp into a cold bowl of water.
- For the carrots, I like to use a julienne peeler to make prepping it easier and quicker.
- Other vegetables you can add are cauliflower, peas, mushrooms, snap peas, snow peas, and more!

Make Ahead Tips
- Meal prep: once cooled, store the cooked shrimp and nodles in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge.

Gah. The garlic is listed in the sauce ingredients, but then in the directions, you put it in the oil with the vegetables. I had to strain the sauce to retrieve the garlic.
Taste was good — almost a sweet/sour sauce, but if I make again, I’ll add some spice to make it hotter. Thanks!

Hi Cheryl! I’m so sorry about that. Thanks for letting me know. I’ll update the post to reflect the ingredients. It’ll def taste delish with some sriracha or gochujang mixed into the sauce :)

Delicious recipe, thanks sharing. Next time I might decrease the amount of honey but that’s just my preference for less sweetness.

Yum, yum! Didn’t have chow mein noodles so I improvised and it was still awesome!

Amazing recipe, really tasted like something from a restaurant. I didn’t have cornstarch so I added in about a quarter cup of starchy noodle water instead. Turned out great. Will make again and going to add Sriracha next time!
