Airfryer Baked Potato
I find that no holiday dinner is complete without a side of potatoes, whether it be mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, wedges, or fries. I’m always asked by H’s brother what I want to eat for our holiday dinners and without fail, I’ll state “potatoes.” He’d gently roll his eyes and be like “I mean do you want turkey, roast beef, or???” and I’d just say “as long as there’s potatoes.” What can I say, I’m a simple girl! I can eat my weight in potatoes and need a minimum of one potato side during holiday dinners. So this year, my contribution to our holiday dinners are these flawless airfryer baked potatoes – they’re perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside!
What You’ll Need for this Air Fryer Baked Potato Recipe
- russet potatoes — russet potatoes are the ideal potatoes as they’re low in moisture with a high starch content leading to the perfect fluffy potatoes.
- pinch of salt — for a little extra flavor.
- olive oil — to help the potato skin crisp up. You can use another neutral oil if you prefer.
- toppings — optional but toppings are always welcomed! Bacon bits, sour cream, chives, and butter are my go-to.
- Philips XXL Airfryer
For this baked potato recipe, I used the Philips XXL Airfryer. It is the largest airfryer in the Philips collection. With its 3 pound capacity, it can easily handle a whole chicken (or up to two bags of fries) allowing you to prepare up to 6 portions of food in one appliance. It also uses powerful hot air to fry your favourite food with a tablespoon or less of oil and removes excess fat from the food, capturing it all in the bottom.
I use the Philips XXL Airfryer for this airfryer baked potato recipe since it can fit 5 baked potatoes in one go. I’ve also tried this with the Philips Turbostar Digital Airfryer and it fits 3 potatoes. This airfryer baked potato recipe would also go great with my last recipe post, Simple Airfryer Turkey Dinner, where I used the Philips XXL Airfryer to make a mini turkey dinner! (Bonus tip: because the XXL airfryer fits 5 potatoes, it’s also perfect if you’re meal prepping for the week. A potato as a side Monday through Friday!)
How To Make the Perfect Air Fryer Baked Potato
- Lightly coat your potatoes (after washing and patting dry) with some oil and sprinkle some salt on. Prick them 3-4 times across the surface with a fork.
- Place the potatoes into your air fryer, making sure there’s space between them to allow the hot air to circulate between them.
- Turn your air fryer on and set it to 400F for 25 minutes. No preheating is necessary!
- After 25 minutes, open your air fryer and give the potatoes a gentle squeeze on the side to see if they’re done. They should be squish-able! If they’re still hard, let them cook for another 5-10 minutes.
- Once done, split them open and put your choice of toppings on them! I had a mix of butter, chives, bacon, and sour cream.
Note: The XXL airfryer is available at Amazon and the Hudson’s Bay Company and will be on promotion for $369 in November & December. It will also hit special lower promo price for Black Friday (Nov 23 – Nov 30) and Boxing Day (Dec 26 – Jan 2)!

You’re so right – it’s definitely not a holiday meal without a side of potatoes! And wow, I’ve never use an air fryer, but I think it’s finally time I got one. These baked potatoes look perfect.

I share your love of potatoes, and you’re right! No holiday meal is complete without them! I’ve been thinking about getting an air fryer, and I love the thought of having perfect baked potatoes for my meal prep! Definitely getting one!

Potatoes are definitely a holiday must at our house too! I LOVE your air fryer!! I should have gotten an xxl when I was purchasing one. This recipe is still going to come in handy, just maybe win 3 potatoes instead of 5.
