Making homemade Buffalo Sauce is shockingly easy. With only a couple of ingredients, you can have this finger-licking sauce in no time. Perfect for wings, chicken nuggets, chicken tenders, and more!
I feel like it’s been a zillion years since we’ve been out for wings. I definitely haven’t had buffalo sauce in a while so I thought I’d whip some up at home. It only technically requires two ingredients but I added a pinch of garlic and onion powder for some extra flavour.

What You’ll Need

- butter — be sure to use unsalted butter. Don’t substitute for margarine.
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- hot sauce — Frank’s Hot Sauce is recommended up you can also sub in Tabasco if needed.
How to Make Buffalo Sauce
- Melt butter over low heat in a saucepan along with the garlic powder and onion powder.
- Allow the melted butter to cool for 2-5 minutes before whisking in the hot sauce into the saucepan.
- Mix until well combined. Either use immediately or store in an airtight glass jar.

Recipe Tips and Notes
- I always use unsalted butter. Salted butter tends to vary in salt levels by the brands so using unsalted means you can salt to taste if you’d like.
- For butter to melt quickly, cut them up into cubes.
- You can also add a dash of Worcestershire sauce to the Buffalo sauce.
- The sauce will thicken as it cools due to the butter.
- Be sure to allow the butter to cool before combining the ingredients. The sauce won’t combine right when combined over the stove.
- Use it for this Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken!
