If you’re looking for a smoothie without yogurt or dairy, then you’ll love this frozen fruit smoothie. It’s so thick and creamy that it can even double as a smoothie bowl! It’s so easy to make with only a few simple ingredients.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Many times, you find recipes calling for yogurt to make for a thick and creamy smoothie. But if you don’t have yogurt on hand or don’t want to use yogurt, you can make this frozen fruit smoothie without yogurt but still have it wonderfully thick and creamy.
- You can use any frozen fruit you have on hand! Don’t feel like you have to use what I did.
- It takes a few seconds to blend and serve. Gotta love a fast breakfast.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- frozen fruit — I use a mixture of frozen bananas, strawberries, cherries, and raspberries for this pretty pink-colored smoothie. Feel free to use whatever fruit you have on hand that you think goes well together! Just make sure it’s frozen.
- coconut milk — I use canned coconut milk for the liquid of the smoothie. It’s important to use the canned coconut milk and not the carton one, as you want the liquid to be thick and creamy.
How to Make Frozen Fruit Smoothie Without Yogurt
- In a high-powered blender, combine all of the ingredients. Blend until creamy.
Recipe Tips and Notes
- This frozen fruit smoothie is quite thick, so you’ll need a high-speed blender. I have a Vitamix.
- Add more coconut milk or a splash of water for a thinner smoothie.
- Feel free to swap maple syrup for honey if that’s what you have on hand.
- Add a spoonful of almond or nut butter for an additional bit of healthy fats and protein.
- You can add additional toppings, such as hemp seeds, fresh fruit, granola, or more, to make the smoothie even more filling and hearty.
- If you don’t have frozen fruit on hand, you can freeze diced fruit of your choice on a lined sheet pan in a single layer. The fruit being frozen is what helps make the smoothie thick and creamy without yogurt.
I don’t recommend making this smoothie more than a day ahead of time as the ingredients will start to separate.
Nuts and seeds, nut butter, avocado, and protein powder make for a great addition to the frozen fruit smoothie.
