Why You’ll Love This Smoothie
- It only requires a few ingredients and takes less than 5 minutes to blend together. It’s perfect for when you’re in a rush in the mornings and need something filling!
- It’s super creamy thanks to the avocado!
- The use of frozen bananas means you can skip using ice and the smoothie won’t be watered down.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- milk — I use whole milk but you can also use water, almond milk, cashew milk, etc.
- avocado — use whatever avocado is in season.
- banana — I use frozen banana to contribute to the creaminess of the smoothie and helps keep the smoothie cold.
- matcha powder — a finely grounded powdered green tea.
- maple syrup — to add a bit of sweetness to the smoothie. Feel free to adjust the amount used.
How to Make Avocado Matcha Smoothie
- In a high-powered blender, combine all of the ingredients. Blend until creamy. Add more milk if you want a thinner consistency.
Recipe Tips and Notes
- An easy way to get the avocado pit out of the avocado, is by pushing the pit out with your thumb from the exterior side of the avocado. Since the shape of the avocado doesn’t matter in a smoothie, you can squish the avocado a bit. More than once my knife has slipped trying to get the pit out of this is my perferred (and safest) method.
- It helps to have the milk at the bottom of the blender so the blades can move more freely.
- Always use ripe avocados for the smoothie or the texture and taste will be off. The avocado will yield to a gentle squeeze if they’re ripe.
I wouldn’t make this more than a day in advance as the smoothie can separate in the fridge.
Nope! Thanks to the blender, the matcha will blend seamlessly into the smoothie.
There’s caffeine in matcha so there’s some caffeine in this drink.
