A sweet banana milk mixed with cinnamon flavours throughout, you’ll love this Roasted Banana Milk with Cinnamon. Quickly caramelize your seasoned banana slices in the oven and blend it up to make this delicious sweet drink.
Inspired by my recent homemade banana milk, this roasted banana milk is adapted from that. I’ve seen people cooking their bananas on the stovetop for their oatmeals so I thought, why not my banana milk?! The bananas are roasted in the oven with some cinnamon, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla to add extra sweetness and flavour and then blended up with some milk to turn it into a refreshing banana milk! Easy peasy!
What You’ll Need
- ripe banana — you don’t want it too ripe as it’ll smush as you mix it and bake it.
- brown sugar — you can use regular or dark brown sugar.
- cinnamon
- salt
- vanilla extract — I like using real vanilla extract over artificial extract.
- milk — feel free to swap the milk for a non-dairy alternative.
- water
How to Make Roasted Banana Milk
- Heat the oven to 350F.
- In a bowl, combine the banana slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract.
- Transfer to a lined sheet pan and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, allowing the banana to lightly caramelize.
- Transfer everything on the sheet pan (that delicious sweet liquid!) to a blender.
- Add in milk and water. Blend until combined.
- Transfer to a cup and enjoy with or without ice. I prefer to serve it after chilling in the fridge for an hour.
Tips
- Feel free to double or triple this recipe if you’re making it for your entire family!
- I use a lined mini sheet pan to roast my bananas since it doesn’t require much effort to clean.
- If you do not want to bake your bananas, you can cook them on the stove top instead. Below is an image of when I was cooking the bananas on the stove top to make a cup of banana milk for H and myself.
- It’s best to consume roasted banana milk within the day as it does tend to separate if left alone for too long. If you’ve made too much, store it in the fridge overnight and shake to combine again before drinking.
