Budget friendly and freezer friendly, these Blueberry Oatmeal Cups are made with 5 simple ingredients and are a delicious way to start your morning!
Freezer Friendly Meal Prep
I love freezer meal preps, especially these blueberry oatmeal cups – it takes next to no effort to double a recipe so you can easily make extra, pop half in the freezer, then thaw as needed. Future you will thank past you for prepping ahead.
This freezer friendly blueberry oatmeal cups are part of a mini series of posts where I share 4 breakfast meal preps that cost less than $10 to make. Each recipe has 5 servings so it comes out to under $2 per serving!

Recipes mentioned in the video: Peanut Butter and Jelly Chia Overnight Oats, Breakfast Diner Bowls, and Breakfast Sausage Bowl.
What You’ll Need To Make These Oatmeal Cups + Costs
- rolled oats ($0.90) – make sure you get whole rolled oats and not quick oats or steel cut oats.
- milk ($0.45)
- honey ($1.33) – if you can’t have honey, maple syrup works!
- blueberries ($0.60) – I use frozen blueberries, no thawing needed
- eggs ($0.56)
These blueberry oatmeal cups come out to $3.28. So you definitely have wiggle room to add in more toppings if you’d like such as frozen strawberries, peaches, etc.
Disclaimer – I mention this in my Youtube video but I am Canadian, specifically in Ontario, this means my calculations are in Canadian Dollars which at the time of writing this, $10 CAD = $7.60 USD. I also live in a higher cost of living area so my grocery bill is a bit on the higher side. Hopefully this means you can make the meal preps in my series for less than I do (Also, Canada got rid of pennies so we round up/down to the nearest 5/10 cents.)
Recipe costs are calculated by adding the costs of each ingredient used, in the amount used instead of per ingredient. For example, at my local Walmart, Robin Hood 100% Whole Grains Large Flake Oats in 1kg is sold for $2.97, making it $0.30 per 100 grams. This recipe uses 2.5 cups of oats which is 225 grams, bringing the total to $0.675 for 2.5 cups. As we don’t purchase a new bag of oats or bottle of olive oil for every recipe and the ingredients can be used in other recipes, this method of calculations made the most sense to me.
How To Make These Blueberry Oatmeal Cups
- Heat oven to 350F.
- Line a muffin tin pan with liners and lightly grease it if desire before setting it aside.
- In a bowl, combine all the ingredients and mix until combined. If you’re worried about squishing the blueberries, add it in last after everything has been mixed.
- Transfer the mixture into your muffin tin and then bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let cool before eating or store in an airtight container for later.
Tips and Notes
- To freeze: once cooled, wrap each oatmeal cup individually in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer friendly bag or container. When ready to serve, remove them from the bag, remove the plastic wrap, and pop them in the microwave on a microwave-safe dish for 30 to 60 seconds until heated through.
- I use these silicone muffin liners
- If you have some on hand, add in a splash of vanilla extract.
- Other toppings you can put in these oatmeal cups include: other berries, chocolate chips, cinnamon and raisins, chopped nuts, and more!
- Make it vegan by swapping out the milk for almond milk or a plant-based milk and the honey for maple syrup.
- Oats are naturally gluten-free. To make this recipe GF, just double check that the oats aren’t processed in a facility that also handles gluten.
