Want to have roasted garlic but don’t want to heat up the house with the oven? Here’s how to make Roasted Garlic in an Air Fryer for when you only need a couple of heads of garlic roasted. It’s quick, easy, and mess-free. Here’s how to roast garlic in the air fryer!

I love roasted garlic. I usually roast garlic in the oven but if I don’t have to make roasted garlic in bulk, I love roasting garlic in my air fryer. It doesn’t heat up the house and I don’t have to empty out all of my sheet pans in the oven to enjoy roasted garlic.

Why You’ll Love This Air Fryer Recipe

    • It’s super fast compared to the oven. When roasting garlic in the oven, it takes around an hour, but roasting garlic in the air fryer takes 20 to 25 minutes.
    • It’s beyond easy to make as all you have to do is place it in the air fryer and the air fryer does the rest of the work.
    • It’s convenient to roast roast in the air fryer as it doesn’t require oven space. If I’m roasting one or two heads of garlic, the air fryer is convenient. Especially if I have stuff in the oven and don’t have room for it.
    My Recommendation
This is the air fryer I use. I love how large this air fryer is! It can fit a whole chicken or 2 bags of frozen French fries!

    Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients needed to roast garlic in the air fryer.
    • garlic — you can use whatever garlic you have. I usually use music garlic as it’s commonly sold at my local farmers’ market. I will say, buying local garlic is game changing as there’s much more flavour to them!
    • olive oil
    • salt

How to Make Air Fryer Roasted Garlic

    Cut garlic head.
Garlic head drizzled with oil and salt.
    • Remove the paper-thin skin of the garlic.
    • Trim the top ¼ inch off the top of the garlic bulb.
    • Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle salt on the cut side.
Garlic added to an air fryer basket.

    • Place the heads of garlic onto a piece of tin foil and drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt.
    • Tightly wrap the garlic in the foil. Make sure the cut side of the garlic is facing upwards.
    • Air fry at 400F for 20 to 25 minutes. When cool to touch, remove the garlic cloves from the skin and set aside. You can squeeze the cloves out or simply peel the skin off.

    Recipe Tips

    • I use around 1 teaspoon of olive oil per head of garlic.
    • To add more flavour, you can place a couple pieces of fresh rosemary, thyme, or sage over top the heads of garlic before wrapping them up in tin foil.
    • Once roasted, the garlic can be used in so many different ways. From putting it in salad dressings, stirring it into mashed potatoes, mixed into soup, and more! No matter what you’re adding roasted garlic into, it will instantly make it more flavorful. You can even just spread it directly on some bread or crackers and enjoy it as it.

    • Store for up to 5 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator if you’re not using them immediately.
    • Roasted garlic can be frozen for about 2 months. Simply defrosted when ready to use. My go-to way of freezing them is separating out the roasted cloves and portioning them in my Souper Cubes tray.
