This post was originally written on September 17, 2020, and was updated with new photos on April 8, 2024. In the four years, my obsession with hummus has not waned, and this is still one of my favorite hummus-related recipes!
You’ll love this hummus dressing because it’s so creamy, quick to make, and only takes 3 ingredients that you might already have hanging out in your fridge! It’s also a great way to use up leftover hummus!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It comes together in seconds! You just have to add everything to a bowl or a jar and mix well to combine.
- It’s very easy to customize with the ingredients you have on hand. You can make it tangier or creamier, or even add some hot sauce to make it spicy!
- It’s much tastier than store-bought dressing! Plus you know exactly what’s in it.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- hummus — you can use store-bought hummus or if you want to make your own, here’s my homemade hummus recipe.
- lemon juice — this helps thin out the hummus and adds a bright, tangy flavor.
- Dijon mustard — I love the bold, tangy flavor you get some adding Dijon mustard to the dressing.
- water — you’ll need a couple of splashes of water to thin out the dressing.
How to Make Hummus Salad Dressing
- In a bowl or jar, combine the hummus, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. Mix to combine and add water, a tablespoon at a time, until the hummus salad dressing reaches your desired consistency.
Recipe Tips and Notes
- This recipe is SO simple, but you can customize it very easily. Some ways you can customize this dressing are to use a different-flavored hummus, add minced garlic or roasted garlic, add a splash of sesame oil, add hot sauce, and more.
- To make this dressing tangier, you can add more lemon juice along with the lemon zest.
Make Ahead Tips
- Meal prep: store the salad dressing in an airtight container or jar for up to 4 days in the fridge. Stir before serving.
- Freezer: when freezing this hummus dressing, make sure to leave room on top as it’ll expand when frozen. Freeze for up to 3 months. Make sure to give it a stir after thawing as it might separate when thawed.
