Looking for a chocolatey chia pudding recipe? Make this simple Chocolate Chia Pudding for breakfast or for dessert this week!

    Easy Chia Pudding

Chia pudding (or chia seed pudding) is the easiest healthy meal prep breakfast or snack for people who are constantly on the go! They’re so creamy, filling, and nutritious and takes seconds to put together!

The next morning, you’ll have this delicious and healthy pudding-like breakfast! Or have it as a dessert! I like to top it with some whipped cream when having it as a snack/dessert. They’re also super versatile once you get the base recipe down so it’s really easy to meal prep a bunch of chia puddings in different flavours so you can snack on them all week!

Here are my other chia seed pudding recipes that you may like!

So what exactly are chia seeds?

Chia seeds are tiny seeds from the plant Salvia hispanica. You may recognize them from those cute little chia pet commercials from way back when but other than a cute terra-cotta pet, the seeds are packed with healthy goodness. Despite being tiny little seeds, an one-ounce (28 grams) serving of chia seeds contains:

    • Fiber: 11 grams.
    • Protein: 4 grams.
    • Fat: 9 grams (5 of which are omega-3s)

You can buy them as almost any major grocery store and can last for 4-5 years without refrigeration. Just be sure to store your chia seeds are a cool dry place. They come in both black and white seeds but there is no difference in nutritional content.

What You’ll Need To Make Chocolate Chia Pudding

    • milk, dairy or non-dairy milk
    • chia seeds
    • maple syrup
    • vanilla extract
    • cocoa powder
    • sea salt

How To Make The Perfect Chocolate Chia Seed Pudding

    • In a bowl, add in the milk, yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and sea salt.
    • Whisk until everything is fully blended.
    • Let it set for a couple of minutes (5-10 minutes) in the fridge before going back in and giving it a second stir. Sometimes there’s clumps of chia seeds so the extra step helps.
    • Let the chia pudding set in the fridge for at least two hours or overnight.

How To Eat Chia Seed Pudding + Containers for Chia Pudding

You can eat your chia pudding straight from the fridge! For a dessert, I like to add some whipped cream on top. For breakfast, some sliced bananas works great. I usually meal prep the chia pudding in a large 750mL mason jars, then scoop it up the day of on top of the compote or berries. You can also meal prep them individually in a small mason jar and leave room on top to scoop in your toppings of choice the day of.

    How To Freeze Chia Pudding

To freeze chia pudding, portion out the pudding in small containers then freeze! Thaw the chia pudding in the fridge for 6-8 hours/overnight before you’d like to eat it. You can store chia seed pudding in the freezer for up to 2 months.
