Thanks to the air fryer, this Air Fryer Frozen Turkey Burger recipe is an easy way to have a healthy meal ready in a flash. I love that making frozen turkey burgers in the air fryer as it’s a hands-off method of preparing lunch or dinner.
Juicy and tender, these air fryer turkey burgers from frozen are an easy way for me to get lunch ready without doing a ton of work. I always have homemade burger patties in my freezer (as it’s easy to make a double batch and freeze for later), so air frying frozen patties in the air fryer lets me get a meal ready in less than 30 minutes!
Now you might be thinking, why the air fryer? Well, other than it being fast, sometimes I’m just craving a burger and don’t want to fire up the grill (especially in the winter). Making a frozen turkey burger in an air fryer allows me to satisfy my craving with minimal work. There are not even any oil splashes like when cooking the patties in a cast iron on the stovetop.
Ingredients You’ll Need To Make Turkey Burgers in the Air Fryer
- Frozen turkey burgers — there’s no need to thaw them ahead of time. Frozen turkey burgers can go into the air fryer directly. Feel free to use store-bought frozen turkey burgers or make your own. I’ll share how to make your own turkey patties down below.
How to Make Air Fryer Frozen Turkey Burger
- Add the frozen patties to the air fryer. Mine will fit two patties at once. It’s ok if they’re touching each other.
- Air fryer at 375°F for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. If your patties are thicker, add 2 to 3 minutes.
- When done, serve with your favorite burger toppings.
Recipe Tips
- Cook time may vary with each air fryer. My air fryer does not require preheating, but yours might, so make sure to check your manual before making turkey burgers in the air fryer.
- Cooked turkey patties will last in the fridge for up to 4 days in an airtight container in the fridge.
- Use an instant read meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the turkey burgers. They should reach 165°F (74°C).
Topping Ideas
Here are some of my favourite toppings for my turkey burgers. I don’t put them all on at once though ;)
- ketchup
- honey mustard
- caramelized onions
- roasted garlic / air fryer roasted garlic (mash it into a paste and spread it onto the patties or buns)
- air fryer roasted garlic
- hummus
- white bean hummus
- butter lettuce
- red onions
- tomatoes
- bacon (air fryer bacon)
- cheese
How to Make Homemade Turkey Burgers
- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 2 tbsp plain panko (since turkey can be dry, the panko helps hold onto the moisture in the patties.)
- ½ tsp salt, or as desired
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- chopped fresh herbs of choice
In a bowl, mix together all of the ingredients with a fork. Avoid overmixing. Then, shape the turkey mixture into four patties, about ½ inch thick.
Place the patties on a parchment-lined sheet pan and freeze. Once frozen, transfer the patties into a freezer-safe bag or container.
