Want to make the perfect hard boiled egg? Here are four foolproof ways to make hardboiled eggs using your stovetop, Instant Pot, air fryer, or oven!
Hardboiled Eggs
I love a good hard boiled egg! Hard boiled eggs are a must-have for meal prepping. They’re perfect as a snack, on-the-go breakfast, or as part of another meal. So having a couple ready to go at all times in the fridge is a must for me!
However, I get that meal prepping sometimes can be a lot as you’re multi-tasking and using every appliance in the kitchen at once so today, I’m sharing 4 different ways you can make your hard boiled eggs for meal prepping!
Hard Boiled Eggs on the Stove Top
- Place the eggs in a large saucepan then cover them with cool water by 1 inch. Cover with a lid and bring water to a boil over high heat
- Once the water has reached its boiling point, set the timer for the desired time. 4 minutes will yield soft boiled egg, very soft whites, and runny yolk and 9 minutes will yield traditional firm hard boiled eggs.
- When the timer is up, use a slotted spoon, transfer them to a large bowl with ice and cold water immediately and let them cool down for a couple of minutes before peeling.

How To Make Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs
- Place your room temperature eggs into your air fryer.
- Set the air fryer to 250F for 11 minutes.
- Once the eggs have cooked for 11 minutes, immediately place them in an ice bath before peeling.

How To Make Hard Boiled Eggs in the Instant Pot
- Place your eggs on a trivet inside of your Instant Pot before adding in 1 cup of water.
- Close your lid, set the valve to sealing, and set your manual pressure.
- 5 minutes for soft slightly runny yolks.
- 7 minutes for firmer creamy yolks
- Quick release once done and immediately place them in an ice bath using tongs before peeling.

How To Make Hard Boiled Eggs in the Oven
- Heat oven to 325F.
- Place your eggs in a muffin tin and bake for 30 minutes.
- Once done, place them in an ice bath before peeling.
When to Peel Hard Boiled Eggs
Peel your hard boiled eggs when you are ready to eat them as that will help them last longer.
Easiest way to peel hard boiled eggs are to give them a nice crack on a flat surface then roll it under your palm to get the shell to crack across. Then peel.
How to Store Raw Eggs
Keep raw eggs cold and dry. You want to store eggs in the carton that they came in inside the main part of your fridge.
Avoid storing eggs in the door of your fridge as it is not cold enough and be sure to discard any eggs if the shells have been cracked.
How To Store Hard Boiled Eggs
Hard boiled eggs are okay to sit at room temperature for a couple hours, so be sure to store the boiled eggs in the fridge if you don’t plan on eating them right away. They should last for about a week but I only make 5 days worth at a time.
I recommend that you keep the hard boiled eggs refrigerated in the shells.
Are Brown Eggs Healthier than White Eggs
No! The colour of your eggs are dependent of the breed of hen that laid the eggs.
Ways you can use your eggs
- breakfast on the go or slice it up and put it on top of avocado toast
