This easy lemon garlic vinaigrette is a classic salad dressing you can whip up quickly. Simple but flavorful, this versatile dressing can be served over some chicken, fish, potatoes, vegetables, or pasta, as well as a salad.
You only need a handful of ingredients to make this delicious lemon garlic vinaigrette. It is one of my go-to dressings as it goes well with everything. It’s zesty, bright, and flavorful. You won’t have another bland salad with this dressing on top.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Most of these ingredients are kitchen staples, so you can easily throw together this lemon garlic vinaigrette for any meal of the day.
- Use it as a dressing for salad, a simple marinade, or drizzled over some roasted vegetables or grilled chicken.
- It’s easily customizable! Want it to taste more bright and tart? Add more lemon! Want it spicier? Add some red chili flakes! Want more bite to it? Add more garlic!
Ingredients You’ll Need

- lemon — you need fresh lemon juice for the best flavor. Plus, you need lemon zest, so you’ll need a fresh lemon regardless.
- garlic — minced garlic adds a nice kick to the dressing.
- ground mustard — ground mustard has a sharp, tangy, earthy, and spicy flavor.
- salt & pepper
- oil — use your oil of choice. I like to use olive oil or avocado oil.
How to Make a Lemon Garlic Vinaigrette

- Add the lemon juice, lemon zest, minced garlic, ground mustard, salt, pepper, and oil to a bowl and mix to combine. Alternatively, you can shake everything together in a jar.
Recipe Tips and Notes
- For a little bit of extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes!
- Fresh lemon juice is ideal as some bottled varieties have a slightly bitter aftertaste and does not taste as fresh and bright as freshly squeezed lemon juice.
- You can get more juice out of a lemon by rolling it on the counter under your palm to loosen up the juices. Room temperature lemon helps as well.
- Remember to zest the lemons before juicing them! It’s much easier.
- You are welcome to add more lemon zest if you’d like.

Make Ahead Tips
- This lemon garlic vinaigrette will keep in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. It’s normal for vinaigrettes to separate in the fridge. Simply give it a shake before you use it.
- If you use a high quality olive oil, odds are that it will solidify in the fridge. Not to worry, it’s totally normal! Let the vinaigrette sit out at room temperature for around 30 minutes before using it so it comes back to room temperature, or place it in a warm water bath.
