This creamy nutritional yeast dressing comes together in seconds in a blender. Nutty, tangy, and full of rich umami flavors, you will want to drizzle this homemade nutritional yeast dressing on everything!
You only need a handful of ingredients to make this delicious nutritional yeast dressing. This nourishing dressing is full of flavor and you won’t believe how easy it is to make.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- I love homemade salad dressing. Don’t get me wrong, a bottle of dressing from the store is convenient, but I love how quickly this comes together with pantry staples, so it’s perfect if you need a dressing last minute.
- It’s a versatile recipe! This creamy nutritional yeast dressing is not just for salad. It is perfect for dipping (try my air fryer tortilla pizza), for drizzling over protein (like salmon or grilled chicken) or in a grain bowl, and it even pairs well with vegetables (like roast potatoes or broccoli). I love having it on the side when I make this roasted half chicken.
- It comes together in seconds in a blender. Cleaning up is a breeze as well as you can just add dish soap and water to the blender.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- nutritional yeast — also known as “nooch,” nutritional yeast has a savory, umami flavor. You can use nutritional yeast that is closer to a powder or large flakes. It’s up to you! You might have guessed from its name that it’s full of healthy goodness as well. I always have a few bags in my pantry as I put it on everything. If you want to try another recipe that uses nutritional yeast, try my nutritional yeast popcorn or kale chips with nutritional yeast!
- apple cider vinegar — the acidity of apple cider vinegar brightens the dressing with a touch of sweetness.
- garlic — you can also use garlic powder if you don’t have fresh garlic on hand.
- Dijon mustard — this works as an emulsifier to keep the dressing together and adds an irresistible tangy flavor.
- soy sauce — to add to the umami flavor. I recommend using low sodium soy sauce.
- salt & pepper
- oil — use your oil of choice. I like to use olive oil or avocado oil. Make sure to use good quality oil for this, as you want it to taste good.
How to Make Nutritional Yeast Dressing
- Add the nutritional yeast, apple cider vinegar, garlic clove, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, salt, and pepper to a blender.
- Blend until smooth and slowly add olive oil to the running blend (on a low setting).
- Season with additional salt and pepper as desired.
Recipe Tips and Notes
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little extra heat!
- Add some lemon zest or juice for a bright lemon flavor.
- If you don’t have a blender, you can also use a food processor. Alternatively, you can mince the garlic finely (or use garlic powder), and whisk all the ingredients together. However, it won’t be as smooth and creamy as using a blender.
Storage Tips
- This nutritional yeast dressing will keep in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. It’s normal for dressings to separate in the fridge. Simply give it a shake before you use it.
